Samantha Pinkler, Grade 11

Samantha Pinkler is a junior who has been swimming since the age of nine. She has been a varsity swimmer at Skyline for all three years. To further prepare herself, Pinkler swims during the summer for the Temescal Tidal Waves. She swims the breast stroke and her best time is 1:23. Samantha also swims the 500, with a best time of 6.48. She loves swimming, and is considering to swim when she attends college.

What’s a random fact about you?
- I make funny noises.

If you were stranded on an island, what 3 things would you bring?
- My phone, Zune, and boyfriend.

What is your dream date?
- A trip to the beach, play in the sand and eat strawberries.

Favorite movie?
- Nightmare Before Christmas

What is your power animal?
- A white tiger

If you could play any other sport, what would it be?
- Basketball, because I’m tall.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
- In 8th grade, I laughed so hard and my math teacher, Mr. Yamaraj said I was as bright as a tomato!

Do you have any Pre-Race Rituals?
- I jump around a lot to get hyped up.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
- Translyvania

Jacky Chen, Grade 12
Jacky Chen is a senior who has been swimming for 3 years. He swims year round, as well. He swims the freestyle, with a best time in the 50 free of 25 seconds. The 100 free, a time of 56 seconds. His best time when swimming the  breaststroke is 1:13, for the 100 fly a 1:05. He also swims the 100 back, with a best score of 1:09. Jacky plans to swim during college.

What’s a random fact about you?
- I space out a lot or i am in deep thought a lot

If you were stranded on an island, what 3 things would you bring?
-  A magical lamp, ask for endless wishes, anything can happen

What is your dream date?
-A pleasant dinner in a restaurant near a beach with the one I love, ending with a nice walk on the beach.

Favorite movie?
- Shawshank Redemption

What is your power animal?
- A sailfish, the fastest fish

If you could play any other sport, what would it be?
- Football

What’s the most embarassing thing that has happened to you?
- Once, the same year i started swimming, i dove in, without tying my pants. i eventually had to swim with one hand to keep my pants on.

Do you have any Pre-Race Rituals?
- Warm up, stretch and some thought on the race–basic stuff

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
- Australia
